Notes from the School Nurse

Here are the guidelines we use at Arapahoe School for dispensing medications to students.

  • The school DOES NOT PROVIDE any medication for students.
  • We must have signed, written permission of the parent/guardian and written instructions from the physician before dispensing any prescription medication – the label on the prescription meets these requirements.
  • All medications are to be left in the nurse’s office, and should be labeled with the child’s name, time of day to be given, length of time to be given, and the physician’s name.
  • Non-prescription medication (Tylenol, Ibuprofen, cough syrup, etc.) must be in the original container, and the student must have a medication release form signed by the parent or guardian, along with instructions for when they should be given.
  • We ask an adult bring the child’s medication to school. Many medications have potentially serious side effects, and we request that the child not be responsible for delivering their own medications to the school nurse.
  • All medications must be in the original container.

If you have any questions about this medication policy, or any other health-related questions, please call or stop in to see me in the nurse’s office. Thanks - Penny Mann, School Nurse.

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER INFORMATION

The Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) Grant

We are going BOWLING in Lander on Saturday, November 19 th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. We will leave from Arapahoe School and return to Arapahoe School. This will be for Arapahoe Students in grades 3-8.

After school there is Tae Kwon Do on Tuesdays from 3:00-5:00 for Grades 3-8 & on Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 for Grades K-2.

We will be installing a BOULDERING / CLIMBING WALL in the multipurpose gym. This will be a great opportunity to improve fitness and have a lot of fun. This will be used during PE classes as well as part of an after-school program.

We are excited about the new equipment we have received and hopefully the Arapahoe School Students are enjoying the use of the shuffleboards, disc golf, cage balls, bowling and swimming activities, golf equipment, dodgeballs, table tennis, and the fitness center and weight room. This has been a great addition to the PE program and has helped improve the individual fitness levels of our students.

Thanks
